Study on the Impact of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement (TTIP) between EU / US in Portugal
The TTIP is a trade and investment agreement that is being negotiated between the EU and the US and is considered of great importance for European companies. The US is the main trading partner and of European investment and is the second extra-EU market of destination for Portuguese exports.
Several studies indicate that a good partnership agreement could generate a stimulus for both economies (EU and US), equivalent to an annual growth of 0.5% of GDP. Businesses will benefit from this agreement because the reduction of all barriers (tariff and non-tariff) will facilitate the entry of European products in the US market.
To assess the importance of this agreement and the impact on growth of the Portuguese economy the Chamber sponsored a study in partnership with the Government and the Luso-American Development Foundation.
